As in previous years you will be able to “buy” a riding number for the season. The difference this year is that the scheme is being run officially by the Centre so that an accurate database can be maintained, including transponder numbers and contact details.
The Auto Cycle Union, founded in 1903, is the National Governing Body for Motor Cycle Sport in the British Isles. It sets the rules by which the various aspects of our sport run. It maintains standards so that competition is fair. It trains meeting officials, it sets safety standards for events and tracks, it organises insurance cover for riders and much, much more.
Within the ACU, the Eastern Centre is an affiliation of some 33 clubs and over 2,400 like minded members in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. We manage all aspects of motor cycle sport in the region and organise some 150 competitive and social events a year across all disciplines.
Centre and Club Officers are all volunteers, who give of their time freely to ensure the stewardship of the Centre's assets, the safe running of events, the organisation of Championships and the myriad of administrative duties that need to be done to ensure that the Centre's business is professionally carried out.
If you are new to off road motor cycle sport, I extend a very special welcome to you and we hope that you will find this site interesting and helpful. If you are looking to join a club in the Centre, the Information section has a list of these and the disciplines they organise. Some of these clubs have their own web site for you to explore.
Whatever your age, whatever your interest in motor cycle sport, whether you ride or just want to spectate or help out as a marshal or observer, we are confident that the ACU Eastern Centre is the place for you. We hope that you will want to get involved and that you will use this web site as a resource to get the most out of your sport.
