Sunny, warm weather, good close riding and sunburn was the order of the day at the 2nd round of the 2012 EMG/Eastern Centre Solo Enduro Championship last Sunday at Foxborough Quarry Sible Hedingham. The event organised by the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club was run on the Hare and Hounds format and first up were the Clubman & Sportsman Classes and has there were nearly 120 riders on the line they were dispatched 40 at a time with a suitable interval between each batch.

Belgium’s Kevin Strijbos was in imperious form at Cadders Hill for round three of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship on Sunday as he took a clean sweep of victories in all three MX1 races, while Bury St Edmunds’ Elliott Banks-Browne claimed two MX2 class wins to move in to second place in the championship standings.

The third round of the 2012 Eastern Centre Trials Championships for Expert, Intermediate and Youth A riders was organised by Wymondham and District MCC on April 15th at Middleton Pit, near Kings Lynn. Forty eight riders completed four laps of ten sections split almost evenly between the steep sandy climbs and the loose rocky sides of the quarry.

On what would turn out to be the best day of the Easter weekend, weather wise, 76 riders mounted on Pre-70 and Twin-shock bikes started the now traditional 2 + 2 lap format trial set out around the Woodbridge & D MCC Moto-X track at Blaxhall. Two laps of 12 sections, laid out on gravel and wooded banks, were to be attempted prior to a lunch interval during which the sections were reversed, two more laps had to be ridden.

Round 1 of the NSJMCC Motocross championship was held on a beautiful spring Sunday in Thetford Forest. Broadland Electrical Services pitched in as event sponsors for the debut of the revamped track. Already fast and flowing a couple of new corners and tabletop jumps opened things up a bit more and the majority of riders were positive about the changes.

Sunday saw the Woodbridge DMCC run their first Motocross meeting of the season at the Blaxhall Circuit. The track was in prime condition on the Friday, prior to nearly 22 hours of rain on the Saturday left the track rather damp. With a bumper entry of nearly 160 riders include the like of Zach Osborne, Bradley Pocock, James Cottrell and Lewis Tombs all in the Expert Class racing was sure to be close.

There were 157 entries for the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club’s six hour Foxborough Endurothon which included 47 of the riders competing in the solo Ironman Class. The course was in excellent condition, Wednesday rain settling the dust helping to create several riding lines on the open fields and freshening up the two bogs.

Woodbridge & District MCC - Laurie Bird Memorial Trial - 27th December 2011

The fifth running of this event, held in Rendlesham Forest, saw 84 riders on Pre-70 and Twin-Shock bikes tackle three laps of fifteen sections set out over a lap of about three miles in the forest.

The penultimate round of the A Class championships was held at the compact and bijou venue that is Beazley End. The equally compact and bijou Chelmsford Club had cleared some new areas ensuring that eleven varying sections were set to challenge the fifty-two riders.

WOODBRIDGE & DISTRICT MCC - JOHN EASTY MEMORIAL TRIAL
30th OCTOBER 2011

Round 5 of the Eastern Centre Pre-70 Championship with a supporting Twin-shock class took place on an unseasonally warm Autumn day. 81 riders started out to tackle three laps of 15 sections set out in groups over a lap of about three miles of forest tracks and marked out tree dodging sections through the forest. After months of dry weather the sections set out in the clay banked pits were offering plenty of grip. It was the ones on the sandy banks that would prove more tricky to read as they were constantly changing as the sand loosened and shifted, these proving to be the bigger mark takers as the day progressed.
