Changes to Web Site
Following constructive comments from centre members, we are looking at ways to improve the delivery of information.
The back end of the site has been completely re-coded so that all information regarding contacts within Eastern Centre clubs is now stored in a central database and loaded dynamically onto the pages. In simple terms, this means that when new information becomes available (i.e. change of club contact, phone no, e-mail etc) it is updated across the whole site, thus eliminating the chances of conflicting and/or out of date information being displayed. This is, of course, completely dependent on us receiving accurate information.
Several members expressed a preference for e-mail links to open their own browser (such as Outlook Express). The new database system allows us to accomodate this while keeping your e-mail addresses safe from 'spybots'.
At the moment, the database system just covers contact details, but we will shortly be starting work on a similar system for the events and venues. Our eventual goal is that all these systems will be integrated together so that we can supply useful, accurate, and up-to-date information to all members.
We are also looking at ways in which the navigation of the site can be simplified to make it easier to get the information you require.
On a personal note, I would like to extend my thanks to those who have supplied event results and photos for inclusion on the site.
