Sad passing of Jack Hubbard
On behalf of the Sudbury Motor Cycle Club, my brothers Chas and Barry and myself, it is with great sadness to learn of the passing of Jack Hubbard.
There are many of us who remember Number 5 Jack Hubbard in this riding days winning many races and beating the best opposition.
Some of my personal memories of Jack beating everybody at Lyons Hall Grass Track meetings riding a 250cc Greeves and a 500cc Matchless Scramble bikes. I have a photograph of myself age 14 riding Barry's bike on a rough piece of ground at Cattlewade when I was suddenly taken by surprise at a hump and I did unintentional 'wheely and Jack was sitting in his pickup laughing all over his face at the fear in my face.
Another memory is when Jack opened a shop in Sudbury, I was working for the Estate Agents who sold the property and Barry was working for Jack at Braintree.
Jack was not only a great rider but a gentleman as well.
