Eastern Centre Grass Track Riders dominate the National Championships

Riders from the Eastern Centre dominated the National Grass Track Championships held at Collier Street in Kent on Sunday 21 September 2008.
In the 250cc solos, former champion Adam Shipp (Diss) grabbed 3rd place after a season of bike problems and spending all the previous day working on the machine to get it ready.
In the 350cc solos, former 250cc champion Richard Smith (Ipswich, pictured right) became British Champion, after returning from an injury sustained on the same track earlier in the season on a 500cc machine.
In the 500cc sidecars, Shaun Harvey (Chelmsford) with Danny Hogg in the chair won the British Champiosnhip for the second year running, Shaun had suffered a broken wrist on the same track earlier in the season and many feared he would not be able to be fit enough to qualify for the event but he proved them wrong
Nick Radley (Roxwell) with daughter Abi in the chair grabbed 3rd place in the 500cc sidecars to round off a fine day for the Centre. Nick broke fingers in a qualifying round accident but carried on riding through the pain barrier to ensure he qualified for the Finals.
