Eastern Centre Quad Championship Preview
For the first time in over ten years the country’s leading quad racers will take on the full British Championship motocross track at Cadders Hill, Lyng on Sunday August 17th. And with a full support programme that includes the NGR (over 35’s) championship and Allcomers class it will be a high speed, all action day of top flight racing.
The return of Quads to Lyng has tempted the very best riders in the UK to tackle one of the country’s toughest tracks. Leading the four wheel charge will be multi British Champion Paul Winrow, but he will have to be at the top of his game as he comes under pressure from no less than three other top ten riders from the 2008 British title race. Current number 2 is Ricky Tordoff, who has beaten Winrow on a number of occasions, and with Stephan Murphey and Carl Bunce also in the mix it promises to be a hard fought three races. There is also plenty of local interest with Scarning’s Shaun Playford, Swanton Morley duo Tony Tulett and Paul Bloomfield, Bressingham’s Steve Butler, and Brian Rodwell from Palgrave all looking to upset the established stars.
Over 160 entries have been received for the Allcomers class which will see local experts Craig Arthurton (Lenwade), Paul Aldridge (Thorpe St Andrew), Tim Warnes (Gt Dunham) and Chris Place (Blofield Heath) all vying to grab the coveted silverware. Although Hoveton based junior Darren Gooch, who won the first leg of the Centre championships at Lyng in June, will no doubt want to put one over his more established compatriots.
Practice gets underway at Lyng at 10.00am with first of a 15 race programme due off the line at 11.00am. Admission is £7, with children £3, and under five year olds free. Car parking is also free.
