Ipswich MCC Mardle Trial - 6/4/08
Paper Mill Lane, Bramford
The Suffolk Mardle trial was run by the Ipswich Mcc last Sunday at paper mill lane Bramford. In very wintry conditions the 60 riders tackled 10 multi routed sections 4 times around the slippery tree lined pit.
The Expert class was a close fought battle between Steve Douglas and Matt Neale, with the advantage changing many times during the day. Then the only clean of the day on the slippery climb of section one by Steve on the last lap proved to be enough to take the win. James Williams rode a Beta for the first time to take an impressive third place. Young Tom Howe was the best Youth rider Coming home in 5th place overall.
On the middle route, top inter was young Chris Every who won by 10 marks from Chris Ryland, with another youngster Dave Allen one mark behind. All these are in their first year as Inters. Chris Every made a good recovery from a nasty crash on the tree step on section 5, where his Montesa found too much grip and hit Chris in the chest before they departed company.
On the easy route it was still tough going as the snow kept coming back but Dave Basham from nearby Ipswich found the going to his liking to win from Chris Eley.
