For the third year running The Centre had a stand at the Copdock Bike Show , an event which attracts about 15,000 motorcycle enthusiasts all of whom are potential competitors, club members, helpers or paying spectators.
Out of a membership of approximately 900 people in the Centre the stand was supported by Sidge Kenny (past Chairman) , Jack Hearn (past Chairman) , Vera Hearn ( past National Council Delegate ) and Chris Keeble (Current Chairman) . Ipswich Triangle Club who have no “off road” members kindly assisted with setting up the equipment. Regrettably there was no involvement from any of the “off road” clubs.
The trials arena which has been a key part of the show for many years was unfortunately not staged this year and this left a large gap in the programme.
Once again there were a significant number of visitors enquiring about starting in the sport both for adults and youths which was positive. We cannot measure how many enquiries will result in actual new members but publicising the Centre and the member clubs has to be a good thing.
It would be remiss if we did not congratulate Ipswich Triangle club for winning the “Best Club stand” in their centenary year which was the result of hard work by a large and enthusiastic contingent of their membership.
The current Chairman will welcome volunteers to run next year’s Centre exhibit.
