Gaining Expert Status
To move from Junior to Expert status, you must earn Expert points in either a combined Expert/Junior Group A race or a Junior Championship race.
Points are awarded to the top four juniors as follows: 4 points for 1st place, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd, and 1 for 4th. These points are recorded by the Centre Recorder.
Once you have accumulated 15 points, you are eligible for promotion to Expert.
If you choose, you may continue to compete in the Eastern Centre Junior Championship for the remainder of that year as a Junior, however in all other events (e.g. open rounds), you must race in the Expert Class.
Downgrading from Expert Status to Junior
A rider who has recently been upgraded to expert status, but feels that he is being outclassed, should adhere to the following rules set up by the Eastern Centre Motocross Committee, in conjunction with the Centre recorder.
He/she should compete in a minimum of six meetings in their first year as an expert, at events organised by the clubs who hold rounds of the Eastern championships.
Subsequently, the rider must apply in writing to the Committee chairman, stating his wish to be downgraded. This would then be discussed by the committee, to decide the outcome.
Should a rider be downgraded, then achieves at least 15 grading points as a junior rider, he will automatically be upgraded again to expert status. forthwith.
For an expert who has competed for two years, or more, then requests to be downgraded, the same rules apply, he must request a downgrade in writing to the Committee Chair.
A rider who achieves Expert status cannot be downgraded unless they have competed in at least 5 events during a season. Riders who have raced in the Expert Class for two seasons without scoring any points and who consistently performs at a slower level than Junior graded riders may request to be downgraded. Additionally, any rider who has not competed for five years is eligible for downgrading.
Requesting a downgrade does not mean you will automatically be downgraded, but it will be put forward to the Eastern Centre motocross committee for consideration
