On Saturday 13 September 2025 the Centre held a First Aid training event for trials organisers which was funded by ACU Head Office.
The event comprehensively covered all medical issues that may arise at trials events as well as in general life and in addition gave the opportunity to practice the use of defibrillators on dummies.
All of those who attended ,passed the official test and practical assessments and were awarded an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.
Overall the trainer delivered, what could have been a very “dry” subject in an interesting manner which was enjoyed by all who attended.
Unfortunately one club reserved two places on the course but then did not attend which meant that other clubs were deprived of the opportunity of attending .This attitude was disappointing when volunteers had spent their time arranging the event and the ACU has provided funding which was wasted. Being treated in this manner does not encourage volunteers to give their time in the future and is, at best , impolite.
Clubs who were not represented definitely missed a good opportunity to broaden their skills.
